Holding an 8 hour first aid qualification is a requirement for BCU Coaches and for the Pool Endorsement. We recommend that all canoeists should hold at least an 8 hour qualification, such as the BCU Level 1 Aquatic First Aid.

BCU Aquatic First Aid

The course planned for Sunday 21st February has been postponed - the new date will be posted here as soon as it is confirmed.

This award is intended to address the First Aid incidents most likely to arise during the majority of canoeing situations and includes:

• Resuscitation
• Drowning and cold water immersion
• Effects of heat and cold
• Wounds and major bleeding
• Shock

Assessment will be on-going during the course, rather than by final examination.
Cost: £30.00.
The course lasts 8 hours and will be run on a single day.
