Basingstoke and Deane Canoe Club (the Club) will accept affiliated membership from other bona fide organisations, including other canoe clubs, youth organisations and schools, at the discretion of the Directors.

The affiliation fee will vary depending on the benefit to the Club and benefit received by the affiliated group.  Guidelines on fees are given below.

  • Where the benefit to both parties is essentially equal the affiliation may either be confirmed at no cost to either party by exchange of correspondence or by payment of equal affiliation fees.  Affiliation to the Club should cost the same as the Club’s affiliation to the other organisation.
  • Where there is no direct benefit to the Club the affiliation fee should be based on the family membership fee.  Where the affiliated organisation would receive more benefit than a typical reasonably active family the fee should be increased pro rata.  As a minimum the affiliation fee should be not less than the cost of British Canoeing affiliation plus a nominal contribution towards insurance costs (£3 per person in 2017).

The affiliated group should fill in a full membership form for the principal contact and a schedule of names and key details for other persons taking part in Club activities.  All named members of the affiliated organisation shall be included as members on the annual British Canoeing affiliation so they are covered by British Canoeing civil liability insurance whilst taking part in Club activities.
