Club Nights on the Basingstoke Canal - Spring & Summer 2024

We have evening paddles for Club Members on the Basingstoke Canal, Colt Hill, Odiham, RG29 1DH in the Spring and Summer (17th April to 10th September)

On Wednesdays (our main Club night) paddling times will be as follows:

17th & 24th April: 6pm for equipment, 6:30 on the water

1st May - 10th September 6:30pm for equipment, 7pm on the water.

We are generally finished by 8:30pm (finish time depends on daylight so tends to be earlier in April and September!)

On Fridays, starting on 24th May, we have the Friday Night Kid's Paddle. This is a fun session, aimed at children and families. It starts at 6pm.

In addition, we also have sessions on Saturday mornings from 9:30 - 12:30.

Basingstoke CanalDuring the summer when we are paddling on canals and rivers and have a couple of months away from the confines of the pool, it is important that we pay particular attention of the abilities and requirements of the whole group. Here are a few ground rules:

Access to Local Rivers and Canals

A brief reminder that a licence is required for most local rivers and canals: this includes the Basingstoke Canal. See requirements below for local waterways

Protect the Environment

Basingstoke CanalBe sure to:

  • Leave the environment as you find it. 
  • Take your litter home with you.  
  • Keep noise to a minimum.  
  • Do not damage bankside vegetation when launching or landing.  
  • Where possible keep to any designated paths or launching points.  
  • Canoe a safe distance away from wildlife
