May and June

With the return to paddling on the Basingstoke Canal each Wednesday evening we have started to make progress with odds and ends of maintenance.

A log pile has been created adjacent to the canal towpath fence to provide a habitat for beatles and other invertebrates.

We have strimmed the weeds that have started to grow next to the newly planted hedge to reduce competition.  We have also started to cut the nettles and other weeds that always start to regrow in the development area.

We have hand weeded in the wild flower meadow to remove thistles.

We have started to hand dig around the ash tree at the west end of the site (planning condition 12).

Collecting broken glass form the site remains an going necessity.
